Spiced Apples to Ignite Your Digestive Fire

Start your day with a spiced apple! Enjoying a spiced apple before any other food is one of the most simple and revered Ayurvedic practices for complete wellness. Cooked apples support a balanced flow of digestive juices, which help regulate both high or low metabolism. Plus, the sour taste cleanses the liver, which is vital for removing toxins from the body.

If you are hungry after your spiced apple, enjoy a savory breakfast. It’s best to favor bitter and spicy tastes in the morning by eating detoxifying and rejuvenating foods, like cooked vegetables, leafy greens and protein. Add cumin, lemon juice and black pepper to ignite digestive fire. By eating fewer sweet, heavy, sticky, and raw foods in the morning, you will enable more clear and sustained energy.

If you are not hungry again after eating your spiced apple in the morning, allow digestive fire to build by fasting until lunch.

ADDITIONAL HOT TIP: If you are having coffee, add a pinch of cardamom powder to support your nervous system by offering a more grounding and cooling effect.
